Hometown Birds, POP Bedford 23

We’re using the humble homing pigeon as a symbol in exploring people’s heritage. The pigeons are one of the first things you see when you arrive at Bedford Bus Station which made us think, what decisions have been made in people’s families for them to move to Bedford?

We explored this at the Bedford POP UP 23 where participants were invited to decorate a pigeon in the colours of their ‘home country’ and then send a message out into the world with their pigeon. We met with over 26 different nationalities on this project, some people had moved with their families, some for work and some simply for love. Ah.
